DJ Vadim (aka Vadim Peare) is a prolific DJ and producer born in St. Petersburg, Russia, raised in London and now residing in New York and London. His music combines hip hop, Soul, Reggae and electronica and his recording technique involves recording great musicians, very precise sampling as well as, to a lesser extent, looping. Vadim was brought up in South west London, streets away from fellow producer, Mark B, and as young DJ's they bought samplers and began working on tracks. They drove each other on and their styles developed. Mark B went on to sign with Virgin records and Vadim's first EP was noticed by fast emmerging independent record company - Ninja Tune, who signed Vadim promptly and his first release was released.

He signed to Ninja Tune in 1992, and founded his own independent record label, Jazz Fudge in 1995.

Aside from DJ-ing, he has worked in numerous roles including A&R, promoter, and radio presenter on the BBC's "Around The World In Eight Relays".

He has worked with a variety of musicians including DJ Krush, Company Flow, The Roots, The Pharcyde, Public Enemy, Beat Junkies, Dilated Peoples, Kraftwerk, Ed Rush, Morcheeba, Super Furry Animals and Paul Weller.

His album, "USSR: Life From The Other Side" featured Scratch Perverts, Iriscience (from Dilated Peoples), Blade and Sarah Jones. To promote the record, Vadim put together a live group - The Russian Percussion - consisting of Mr Thing (turntables), Killa Kela (beat box), Blu rum 13 (mc), John Ellis (keyboards). The tour was 200 shows taking in 24 countries including most of Europe and North America.

In addition to his regular album releases, he has also recorded under the names 'Andre Gurov' and 'Little Aida' and 'The Isolationist.' He is also the DJ and producer for Spanish hip hop group 7 Notas 7 Colores, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy.

His central project for 2005-6 was DJ-ing and producing for the hip-hop group One Self with MCs Yarah Bravo (DJ Vadim's wife) and Blu Rum 13. The first One Self album, Children of Possibility was released September 20, 2005, to great acclaim.

Excerpts taken for DJ VADIM's Blog:

My water company is trying to kill me!!!

Well first i was nearly poisoned to death by vodka in poland 6 years ago. Last year extremely poisoned at a fest in south of france when someone laced my expresso with salt instead of suger(very foul and underhanded threat affair!!!!)
and now my water company is litterally selling me poop water to drink. nice!!!!

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine. And to those who don’t. As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine and beer (or tequila, rum, Whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I’m doing it as a public service.

Best restaurant in the world!!!!

For those who didn't know i'm what americans call a foodie. Someone who loves food. Its a passion that has been growing slowly over the last 10 or so years traveling around the world. I love all kinds of food - Mediterranean, italian, french, spanish, portuguese, brazilian, japanese, asian, arabic, Caribbean, slow food, veggie, vegan, fish, chicken....
I cook, steam, boil, broil, grill, fry and cry when chopping onions....
I have been to some crap restaurants(tho i try my best to avoid them like the plague!), loads of ok ones, some great ones, a few brilliant one's(wapping food - london, brick lane supper club - london, jo jo - nyc, the angry chef - barcelona, negroponte - thesaloniki..) and one absolutely mouthwateringly amazingly frigging out of this world - Asia de Cuba - hollywood! They offer a unparalleled culinary adventure in a cuban fused asian menu in a outstanding location with spectacular views of the city. There is a patio with giant "Alice in Wonderland" terracotta pots with fichus trees and bougainvillea providing intimacy over a trellis if needed, simply breathtaking food, location, decor. 10/10

So good i had to go twice.

What did i eat?

asian pesto grilled shrimp
wok charred tropical fruit, crisp lotus root chips

pan seared jumbo sea scallops
sweet and sour plantains, habanero corn crema

coconut mustard seed sustainable chilean seabass
crab and corn flan, cilantro chimichurri verduras, jalapeno plum coulis

pan seared ahi tuna
served rare with crunchy wasabi mashed potatoes, cilantro chimichurri sauce

cuban bbq chicken
thai coconut sticky rice, avocado cilantro fruit salsa, tamarind sauce

it mite be pricey but heaven has a price!
